Born into a legacy of music and rhythm, DJ Samooz was destined for the decks. With a father who was a pioneering South Asian DJ on the East Coast, Samooz grew up surrounded by sound systems, weddings, and late-night setups. From a young age, he was hands-on in the wedding DJ scene, helping out behind the scenes and throwing his own small house parties that hinted at what was to come.

His real break into nightlife came when he co-founded District Nights, a DMV-based promotion company, alongside his longtime friends. That move propelled him into the club circuit, where he quickly gained momentum DJing across the DMV and in major states like New York, Colorado, and California. His performance in clubs led to him working with artist such as Sean Kingston, Famous Dex, and Prabh as well as DJing at the DMVs Broccoli Music Festival.

Thanks to his Punjabi roots, DJ Samooz carved out a unique space for himself in both the American and South Asian music scenes. His talent as an open-format DJ allows him to seamlessly mix genres—ranging from Tech House and Afrobeats to Latin and Bollywood, effortlessly reading any crowd and delivering an unforgettable experience.

While making waves in clubs, Samooz remained grounded, dedicating time to refine his skills and professionalism by learning from some of the DMV’s top private event DJs. Today, DJ Samooz is known for blending the high energy of nightlife with the elegance and precision of wedding entertainment—making him one of the most versatile and in-demand DJs on the scene.
